The LuEsther T. Mertz Library Staff: 1899 to Present

The Mertz Library staff supports and provides access to its resources and collections through informative library tours, database instruction processing, purchasing, arranging and preserving library materials.

Core services available at the Mertz Library would not be possible without staff and the vital role they play within the institution:

• Library Director: Manages and oversee all library departments.
• Administration: Keeps the library operating smoothly, ordering supplies for the library and staff, maintenance of budget reports and document library staff information.
• Technical Services: Focuses on the acquisition, organization of information and conserving materials.
• Archives: Preserves the Library and Garden historical records.
• Volunteers and Interns: Offer their time and skills on library projects.
• Plant Information: Assist users identify plants and curate plant information guides detailing plant care and gardening maintenance.
• Public Services: Acts as the public face of the library, assisting users with research, information and database instructional services.

Together, Mertz Library staff aim to offer library services and a strong collection encompassed of subjects: botany, horticulture, gardening and landscape design by continuing to generate online content and implement new ways to introduce library programming in the physical space of the library. Mertz Library staff continues to prioritize all library users and foster a robust, positive learning environment for all.
