The Tuliptree or Yellow poplar, Liriodendron tulipifera, a large deciduous tree of the Magnolia family. You can see many fine specimens of this tree in the allee located in front of the LuEsther T. Mertz library of the New York Botanical Garden. The large yellow and orange blooms can be enjoyed in late spring.

Mt. Cuba Center, located outside Wilmington, Delaware, is a botanical garden with an emphasis on native plants and ecosystems. The Center is on the former estate of Mr. and Mrs. Lammot du Pont Copeland. The Mt. Cuba Center is part of an initiative to restore an all but lost habitat called the ancient inland dune forest of Delaware. Beginning in 2010 they have grown more than 500 plants in its greenhouses for the project and answers to their mission to support conservation of native habitats.
