CALL FOR PAPERS: BOTANICAL AND HORTICULTURAL LIBRARIES IN THE MODERN ERA

2018 marks the 50th anniversary of CBHL, the 25th anniversary of EBHL and the 22nd annual meeting of the Linnaeus Link Partners.  A joint meeting of these 3 organizations is being held to celebrate and share our mutual interests and intellectual capital.

Botanical and Horticultural Libraries in the Modern Era: Training and Vision for the Future will provide a forum for discussion on how technology has united us and what the future holds in store for us as we enter the new millennium.  Come and present a talk about what your library is doing, network with colleagues from around the globe, and learn about new technologies and projects which will impact the way your library provides services and programs to its patrons.

Highlights of these annual meetings are presentations from the members.  This year we hope that members from CBHL, EBHL, and Linnaeus Link will present.  We welcome proposals on all topics related to the conference theme.  Below are some tentative member presentation session topics for attendees to consider when making presentation proposals:

  • How technology has united us – digital libraries, union catalogs, and consortia relationships
  • Community engagement – new models to develop new audiences
  • New life for hidden collections – digitization, crowd-sourcing, and metadata initiatives
  • Libraries without borders – no passport required
  • Letting go of legacy services – the careful balance between tradition and emerging technologies and services
  • Teaching, learning, and time to create – strategies for finding time and resources to work with special collections
  • Library showcase – share your library services and collections for your colleagues
  • The intersection of science and art – humanities collections and programming in botanical and horticultural libraries

Note that these themes are presented as suggestions; if your talk does not fit within any of these topics, you should still submit a proposal.
