The Mertz Library was among the first libraries and cultural heritage institutions in the United States to implement a robust digitization program. The program is now over 20 years old, and we have contributed over 4 million images to Mertz Digital, the Biodiversity Heritage Library, the DPLA, and other online repositories. Below are a selection of the digitization policies and procedures developed by Mertz Library staff. We hope that these documents will be useful to other cultural heritage institutions who are developing (or re-developing) their own digitization policies and procedures, and provide a peek into the important work done by our Conservation & Digital Services team.
