The LuEsther T. Mertz Library supports the educational mission of The New York Botanical Garden. Additionally, the Library has many items that can be used to teach the NYC Science Curriculum. (The full NYC Science Scope and Sequence for K-5 can be read here; the full NYC Science Scope and Sequence for 6-12 can be read here.) Please see the lists below for recommended books from the Mertz Library's collections related to the NYC Science Curriculum. All items may be used in the Library, where a full-color scanner is also available to use for free. Please contact the Library with any questions about visiting to use our collections.
The Library is happy to host classes of students within the K-12 age range. Please email the Library if you would like to arrange a tour. Tours are generally between 30 and 60 minutes and can be customized to meet the needs and interests of your group.
Class activities are welcome, (such as storytime or drawing), but the Library does not provide craft supplies.
