- NYBG Members, Staff, Interns, Volunteers, Graduate Students and School of Professional Horticulture Students are eligible to apply for library cards. For more information, please see guides for different Library users.
- In addition to granting the ability to check out books, a library card entitles the holder access to electronic journals and resources through the Mertz Library.
- Only items from the library's 4,500 volume circulating collection may be checked out to take off the Garden grounds.
If you are eligible to sign up for a library card, you may fill out and sign the application below and submit it to the library via email. Your status, (membership, volunteer), will be verified before your account is created. To check out books, you must present a photo ID the first time you use your library card.
Eligible library users are also welcome to sign up for a library card in person at the library.
